Jason, I think you might like to read Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences...there is a book by that name and in any case it has long been established practice to distinguish between the intelligence as measured by IQ tests and such other laughably arcane means, and different special abilities people have -- thus Einstein may have lacked in 'emotional' intelligence, Gandhi say in 'mathematical' or 'spatial', Jds say in "musical" and so on... But talking specifically of writers, looking at the proportion of readable material to available material, I would hesitate to conclude that they seem to have above average intelligence, of the IQ variety even... On the other hand, programmers, though blessed with mathematical, computational and logical abilities, generally do seem to need to follow Scottie's advice, from what little I have seen of them...(And Microsoft programmers in general are alleged to suffer from a serious paucity of intelligence, howsoever defined) Sonny
