I think that he still has that website out there. What he did was actually ask his Lit. Students to write a paper about the experience of reading Catcher in the Rye. After all of the brouhaha (is that a word?) I went to look at it several weeks later. Heck if I can remember his name, but there were one or two student essays really worth reading. Too bad, really. He just took the wrong tack with this group - playing up the "bootleg Salinger" rather than the real content. I'll look and see if I can find the web address again and post it at a later date. The splash page showed the good doctor in the tub reading Catcher. It was really more an experiment in free speech on the cyberwaves than an altar to JDS--maybe that is why so many of us didn't receive him well during his brief stay at the Bananafish table. Remember?
