Well hey - I don't deliberately disagree with people. I enjoy a good long argument the same way most people enjoy a long good pint - it gets better the closer you get to the bottom of it all (: I can honestly say that sometimes I even *prefer* to disagree with people, it gives more food for thought. But I'm delighted to ride on the same rail as you for once too (: > (I'm intrigued, incidentally, that you attribute your > admirable Freudian exposition to Nabakov. So far as I can see, the psychoanalysts are all in pursuit of one thing - the understanding of the human psyche - and I agree with some methods and their results more than others. I'm like a spiritual trawler, I figure - throw out the insights you don't need, hang on to the ones you do. This was one of Freud's that I decided to stuff and mount on the wall and the point I'm making is that more Jungs than Freuds have made it up there so far. There's no denying Freud made some fair calls, and this was one of them. Boy, I've been reading too much Tom Robbins (: By the way, I'll be taking a temporary leave of absence from this list come Friday. I'll be heading up to the furthest and most tropical reaches of Australia, Far North Queensland, for a writer's festival. So no one's allowed to talk about anything interesting til I get back on the 21st, okay? (: P.S. If there's any 'fishers from Brisbane here I have a 9 hour layover - anyone wanna go out and have a coffee???
