I think the top place to head would be for Ol' Faithful: `The Female
Eunuch'. I have a very soft spot for my countrywoman Greer, she's stirring
the shit in a big way in Australia at the moment with her new book, the
`sequel' to the aforementioned book. Never saw a group of men so defensive
about
their manhood in my life, God bless her little cotton socks (:

I would also second Jim's suggestion of Beauvoir, and would add to it
Woolf's `A Room of One's Own.'. But I guess they deal with feminine
experience rather than strictly the ideal. Good reads anyway (:
