DeLillo deliberatly did this as in an interview regarding said novel by Bill, he mentioned that published novels are never finished, they're given up on. DeLillo himself doesn't believe this, but he oftentimes has his characters represent views other than his own (which I can only imagine to be difficult) :o) G.
