dont get too down on your teacher... i'm a junior in high school too... and i
found myself getting frustrated when we did catcher last year and i got pissed
at some of the things my teach said this year about some authors.. but i dont
let it bother me anymore... somethings some people just dont get or care to
get.. and if you enlighten him without pissing him off you're all the better
off... and there's symbolism of zen in catcher if you look for it.. but i
think salinger is indifferent to it.. i think these religious beliefs like
taoism, zen, and other forms of buddhism are intended by him to be appreciated
but not followed.. i think he just wants us to live our own life and if it
happens to follow a zen or taoist path all the bettter (thats the true
intention of taoism according to benjamin hoff)... i have to go now.. byebye
