i have a twin sister who went to spelling bees all throughout elementary school, and who checks my papers. if we do assignments in class w/out editing, spelling doesn't count. Apparently really bad spellers, like myself, can't ever learn to spell even if they try really hard. they can get better, maybe, but not much. i can't tell you if this is true or not, but all throughout grade school i had to study spelling every night, i had a different spelling test than the rest of the class, and i even had to go to a reading class in forth grade in hopes of improving my spelling (i could already read past the 6th grade level-the furthest they tested for 4th graders...), but it didn't help at all. i am also terrible at foreign languages with the exception of Latin (im actually really Good at Latin so far) this is common among bad spellers. it has to do with the order i think in. it's pretty funny in Latin class, i never mis-spell an Latin words, but if i have to give the English definition, im always docked points:>( >Again, no affront to you Ellen, but how does your English teacher feel >about this? Does it not bother him or does he deduct marks for things like >spelling and grammar? I'm only curious because we had a conversation on >this at bananafish awhile back and I was interested to see if the new >teaching methods we discussed here have been put into practise at your >school. > >Camille >verona_beach@hotpop.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
