This argument works both ways...if we're disinclined to see a connection we will do the reverse. But again I'd emphasize degree of correspondence. I'm not terribly committed to the idea of "inverted forest" being an image Salinger lifted from the Vedas. I see it as one possibility -- I'm not going to discount it until I've explored it. But I wouldn't take it for granted either. Jim
