Matt, I did know about the Ranchan but haven't located a copy. (Actually, way back in the Middle Ages I took a class from him on JDS, though at that time he hadn't written the book. That was my one and only exposure to the subject matter.) Never heard of the Kurian: good to know. Isn't there some dissertation on this subject by I believe an Indian woman? (I think Alsen in his unsatisfactory volume mentioned her.) And a belated thanks: I appreciated your response--"Advices"--to my manic posts in January. Glad you are back. --Bruce -----Original Message----- From: Matt Kozusko <mkozusko@parallel.park.uga.edu> To: bananafish@lists.nyu.edu <bananafish@lists.nyu.edu> Date: Monday, September 20, 1999 9:30 PM Subject: Re: Salinger and Eastern Religions > citycabn wrote: > >> Look, I know next to nothing re the subject line, but would venture to say >> we are in the dark re the exact chronology of JDS's >> involvement--for lack of a better word--with Eastern Religions. > >One of the two JDS/Vedanta books has a great account of JDS's probable >progress from casual interest to intense participation in matters >eastern.
