Okay, I didn't mean to sound too much in favor of the hollywood way. I just feel that film can be a beautiful medium of information. As much as I love Mr. Salinger, he is not my mentor or rule setter. In all actuality, I'd prefer to work in New York rather than Los Angeles, since I've been living in California for so long. I love reading books by people like Dostoevsky, Dylan Thomas, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Russell Banks, Jack Kerouac, Toni Morrison, John Steinbeck, Irvine Welsh, and more. Here's some of my favorite films: "Scent of a Woman", "Telling Lies in America", "Nil By Mouth"(written and directed by Gary Oldman", "Yume" aka "Dreams"(directed by Akira Kurosawa, it features a segment where Martin Scorsese plays Vincent Van Gogh!! With red beard/hair and all), "Dead Man Walking", "Shawshank Redemption", Spike Lee films, Martin Scorsese films, Ang Lee films, "Pump Up the Volume", "Trainspotting", "Thelma and Louise", "The Usual Suspects", "The Ref", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", and more... --- Pasha Paterson <gpaterso@richmond.edu> wrote: > At 20:06 09/24/99 -0700, Gene Woo wrote: > >Man, as a 19 year old asian film student hoping to > >major in film(yes, I'm going to hollywood to > >prostitute myself, but I will try my best to make a > >good or decent movie if I ever get the chance) and > >dramatic writing, you guys are sure dampening my > >spirits. > > I paraphrase Buddy here.
