'... Since Scottie cannot seem to stomach
anything Caledonian ...'
Well. Up to a point, Lord Copper.
That appalling slavering ower a' the bonny lassies &
their auld Scots mithers & their aen hames - self-flattering
yet guilty, lascivious yet sentimental, puritanical yet
maudlin, drunken yet watchful - THAT is the element
that makes me truly ashamed of my compatriots.
On the other hand, the defiant Scot with the dirk
in one fist & the broken bottle in the other, scornful
of just about everybody else on the planet... That's
more like it.
'Here's tae US. Wha's like's? Dee'il a yin.
And they're a' deed.'
I might just consent to one verse of 'For a' that.'
Scottie B.
