If you mean that technically, the argument contradicts itself, asserting
the fallibility of logic in a logical statement, you're right on
track. That's the problem with post-structuralism. Futile, certainly.
As for exhibitionim: plenty of people like to hear themselves being heard
by others as they discuss these and other high-minded matters through
clouds of caffiene and nicotine in wanker-ridden cafes across the
west. But that doesn't mean that nobody can be genuinely interested in
the matter. Perhaps these convoluted epistemological debates are a kind
of professional curiousity discussed in liberal arts break rooms much like
baseball fans might fiercely debate among themselves whether Babe Ruth or
Mark McGuire is the home run king.
Finally, I don't earnestly post things to this list that I know will never
persuade anybody to think differently. There is some "truth" to this
perspective, and as I once argued against the position I now defend only
to switch sides after much consideration, I don't doubt that somebody else
in the discussion might eventually do the same.
